The design refers to the schools science focus and picks up on two opposing physical phenomena in two rooms:
Attraction > Magnetism
Pressure > Shock wave
In the canteen/assembly hall, a mysterious magnetic force has drawn a swarm of pots and cutlery out of the kitchen. Apparently frozen in flight, it condenses into a bizarre, shimmering cluster at a pillar.
In the media centre, an internal pressure deforms the wall above the entrance, pushing it into the room and displacing the arch in front of it.
The polarity of old and new, which is apparent in the school building ensemble (and heightened by the conversion of the old assembly hall into a media centre and the construction of a new assembly hall) is reflected in a different form, namely opposing physical phenomena.
The smooth, closed form's artistic implementation in the old assembly hall/media centre contrasts with the many parts of the dynamic object in the new assembly hall.
